In the midst of the lockdowns of 2021, I was asked to animate a video for The Gertrudes, collaborating with animator and director Josh Lyon. It is an honour to have been a part of this project. Parham tells the story of desperation, loneliness and mental health crisis.
Using collage for animation has long been a dream of mine. In this story, I made portraits of the houses that stand along the main road of the village of Parham. I imagined the character of the person who lived within, and showed them in a positive way. I researched the history of the town, and interviewed residents.
Parham is a beautiful small village.
I travelled West to East via Google Streetview, on Wagarville Road, taking screenshots for reference. Below are some of my favourite houses, a church, a shed and a secret path.
